Nsomo Academy offers video lessons in Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Integrated Science, Expressive Arts, and Technology Studies. These lessons have been created by teachers that have teaching experience in primary schools in Zambia. Thus, all the lessons are designed to deliver the appropriate content to the student in a manner that is not only highly focused and effective, but in a manner that is familiar with the students. The video lessons have also been designed to last no more than 25 minutes, with most of the videos ranging in length between 7 and 15 minutes. The short length of videos helps the students to maintain their focus on the lesson as well as reduce the amount of data used when streaming the videos.
Generally, each video deals with only one major topic in the lesson plan. A typical video starts with the objectives of the lesson, before going into a detailed presentation of the topic. The presentation may introduce or re-introduce the student to new topics depending on the grade level and major topic. The video then ends with a summary of the items that the student should have learned in the video. In many lessons, students are asked to pause the video to complete an activity on their own before playing the video again to compare their answers to those of the teacher. This approach helps to break the monotony of the lesson, and also provide students with an opportunity to practice answering questions pertaining to the topic covered in the video.
