Welcome to Nsomo Academy
Nsomo Academy is a Zambian subscription based online learning education system that provides online education services for primary school students in grades 5, 6 and 7. Our services include videos, interactive activities and tests that allow students to independently navigate subject modules that focus on English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and Information and Communication Technology.

Leadership Profiles
Alex Manda
is the CEO, co-founder and chairperson of Nsomo Academy Ltd (www.nsomo.com), an online portal that provides lessons and learning activities for primary school pupils in grades 5, 6 and 7. Alex, who is an associate professor in Geology at a US-based University, co-founded Nsomo Academy after recognizing that there were few opportunities for primary school learners to use affordable and rigorous learning resources outside of formal school establishments. Alex saw that technology could be used to provide affordable and accessible learning options for primary school pupils across different demographic and socioeconomic statuses. He solved the problem by leveraging different technologies and resources to develop video lessons that follow the Zambian primary school curriculum. The online portal allows learners to watch short and engaging videos, and complete exercises, tests and exams that cover content on different subject areas that are highlighted in the respective syllabi. Alex received a Bachelor’s degree in Geology form Cardiff University (UK), a Masters Degree in Geology from Florida International University (USA), and a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (USA).
Nkhatya Mbewe
is a co-founder and board director of Nsomo Academy Ltd. He oversees the organization’s finance, legal and operations work. Nkhatya is a chartered accountant who owns and operates other successful ventures. Nkhatya received his bachelor’s degree from the Copperbelt University in Zambia, before earning his ACCA qualification. He is a fellow member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds a full practicing certificate as an Auditor.
Saml Mutiti
is a board director of Nsomo Academy Ltd (www.nsomo.com), an online portal that provides lessons and learning activities for primary school pupils in grades 5, 6 and 7. He has been a professor of Geology at a US University for over 10 years. He is passionate about education and providing opportunities for learners to access robust education resources wherever they may be located. He has years of experience in providing training to teachers and in curriculum development. Sam received his Ph.D. in Hydrogeology from the Miami University at Ohio (USA).
Mutande Kosta Tembo
is a young entrepreneur and a board director of Nsomo Academy Ltd. She is a strong believer in social capital partnerships that strive to improve efficiencies in delivering products and services. Mutande received her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Soil Science from the University of Zambia, and a Masters Degree in Environmental Biology from Georgia College and State University (USA).
